Why these ages?

Steampunk destination playground on South Hill above Oamaru harbour - big flying fox, tall/steep slide, hamster wheel that a review flagged as dangerous. Reviewers say more modern parks better cater under-3s. Toddler-friendly spring toys and sand digger exist so a toddler zone is present, but not enclosed and adjacent water/beach. Older kids and tweens love it.

Really cool, fun playground. Great for all ages but our older kids especially loved the zip line, wheel, and tight rope.

I happened to be passing by Friendly Bay Steampunk Playground and decided to check out the little blue penguins. The entire playground is filled with a steampunk theme, with gears, pipes, and various mechanical devices everywhere, all uniquely designed and fun, making it very eye-catching. Although the park isn't large, many children were having a blast, climbing, sliding, and running around, creating a lively atmosphere. While strolling around, you can even see the little blue penguins slowly walking by 🐧, which is incredibly cute. Overall, it feels like a "small-town version of a whimsical amusement park," perfect for taking photos or seeing the penguins. In short, Friendly Bay Steampunk Playground is the kind of place where you can stop by, play, take photos, and see the little blue penguins—kids will love it, and adults can easily appreciate the fun and unique designs.
