Northholt Park

Rows of pin oaks line both sides of Northolt Park, a quiet neighbourhood reserve in Fairview Downs, eastern Hamilton, with a good-sized playground and plenty of open lawn.¹ Hamilton City Council spells the park Northolt and describes the play space as country-and-western themed.²

Equipment

The centrepiece is a long timber-post climbing unit with green steel rails, set in bark chip behind a low timber edge. Kids climb ladders and a slatted timber stair to the raised decks, cross a hanging chain bridge, swing along an overhead ladder fitted with gym rings and scramble through a round spider-web rope net, with a short green slide off one deck. A curved steel arch climber stands to one side. The council also lists a seesaw, swings and spinning equipment.² One parent notes the swings are only two baby or toddler seats, so older kids after a big swing may want to go elsewhere.

Reviewers call it clean, fairly big and well kept, though not especially modern. The climbing suits school-age kids best; toddlers will want a hand on the higher sections.

The play area is unfenced, with a street running past beyond a strip of grass, and a large tree stands beside it. There are park benches,² room to spread a picnic rug, and parents mention plenty of parking. Several reviewers say dogs are often off lead around the playground, so keep an eye on little ones. No toilets are listed for the park.

Raymond Park is about 600 m away and Enderley Park about a kilometre, if you want to make a loop of it.
