Temuka Domain

Temuka Domain's playground is the play anchor of the largest urban park in the Timaru District, a nearly 75-hectare domain on the eastern edge of Temuka beside the Temuka River, with separate junior and senior play areas.

Equipment

Equipment includes swings with an infant seat, a rotonet, junior and senior multi-play structures each with their own slide, see-saws, a carousel, a ride on tractor, and a climbing frame, set on an artificial surface.

Access and Inclusion

Wide paths run through the grounds for pushchairs and mobility aids, with off street parking and shade sails over the picnic and barbecue area. A paddling pool and a swimming pool (entry fee applies) sit alongside.

History

A native bush corner known as Gunnions Bush was planted in 1910 by local settler T Gunnion and remains part of the domain today. War memorials and dozens of sporting clubs, from bowls to rugby, share the wider grounds, alongside a skate park, mini golf, and an aviary.
