Why these ages?

Description explicitly says 'suits school-aged children best'. Modest equipment: tyre swings, see-saw, play module with sliding/climbing, platform on pole. Bark surface, wet/muddy patches per reviews. Set within 33ha bush reserve, no adjacent road/water risk to playground. Toddlers need close supervision but forest setting is peaceful.

Access notes

Well graded, mostly flat tracks make the walk and playground approach usable for prams and a wide range of visitors, corroborated by a review noting well maintained paths suitable for pushchairs, but the description states the equipment itself sits on bark surfacing.

Thomsons Bush's playground sits inside a 33-hectare remnant of kahikatea swamp forest a short walk from central Invercargill, giving an otherwise modest set of play equipment a genuinely wild backdrop. It suits school-aged children best, with picnic tables close by for a bush-set lunch stop.

What a beautiful walking trail! We let my daughter lead and choose which path to take, so we spen quite a bit of time in there. The play area is also wonderful. The toilet could be better!

Lots of different short walks to go on with lots of bird life. A lovely area for the kids to play and for families to have picnics. The only issue was that there were some really wet and muddy areas that should have a walkway put over them.

Great experience. Run through here regularly and always enjoy it. The tracks are week maintained, the playground is in good condition. My only criticism wood be that the track could be signposted better
