My kids love the park plenty of space for them to run around
Adventure Playground
Awapuni Road, Awapuni, Gisborne 4010
Why these ages?
Explicit 'gated under-4 area' with mini road system, plus a dedicated preschool zone with mini slides and wobbly bridge - designed for toddler let-them-loose within the enclosure. Two full obstacle courses (monkey bars, flying fox, rock climbing, chain bridge) cover child and tween. Beach across Awapuni Road and an on-site pond are real hazards but the toddler zone's fencing mitigates them for the youngest.
Access notes
Description explicitly names a Liberty Swing giving wheelchair users access to the play equipment, plus hard surface paths between zones built specifically for wheelchairs and buggies to move around the site.
What's here
Gisborne's Adventure Playground packs two full obstacle courses, a gated mini road system for under 4s, and a run of classic play equipment onto one large bark surfaced site in Awapuni, making it one of the most varied playgrounds in Tairawhiti.

Source: infonews.co.nzHistoryA miniature train ran through the Adventure Playground from 1981 (introduced by the Lions clubs) until reliability and safety-compliance problems forced it out of regular operation in the early 2000s; a 2010 Gisborne District Council report says the disused track was then being removed. Any current claim that the train still runs on a set weekly schedule should be treated as unverified.
