Broadfield Reserve

Broadfield Reserve's playground sits beside the heritage listed Broadfield Community Centre in the small rural locality of Broadfield, between Rolleston, Prebbleton, and Lincoln, with a modest bark play area built for the surrounding farming community rather than a big day out crowd.

Equipment

Selwyn's open space asset register lists four hoop climbers, two see saws, and a modular structure. The wider playground survey adds a slide and standard swings with an infant swing to the mix.

History and Cultural

The Broadfield Community Centre next to the playground is the original Broadfield School building, constructed in 1870 and used as a school until the 1950s. It now carries a Category 2 heritage listing and operates as a hall for hire on the same reserve.

Practical Info

Picnic tables are provided beside the play area, with toilets, on site parking, and tennis and netball courts at the adjoining community centre reserve.
