What's here
Little Poland Park playground is a neighbourhood play space at the corner of Oakbridge Boulevard and Burkett Street in Marshland, Christchurch, with a compact but well rounded equipment set suited to toddlers through to early primary age. Its name carries real weight: the park honours the arrival of hundreds of Polish refugee children in New Zealand during the Second World War.

HistoryLittle Poland Park opened 1 December 2024 at the corner of Oakbridge Boulevard and Burkett Street, Marshland, as the centrepiece of Christchurch's regional celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the arrival of 733 Polish children (and 102 caregivers) in New Zealand on 1 November 1944 aboard the USS General Randall. Five surviving original arrivals attended. The children had survived Soviet deportation, Siberian labour camps, and refuge in Persia before arriving in New Zealand.
