Mark Ball Playground

Mark Ball Playground sits within a grassed neighbourhood reserve in Pokeno, with swings, a multi play structure with a slide and a seesaw, suited to toddlers and young primary aged children in the surrounding streets.

History

Pokeno was historically a Maori settlement associated with Ngati Tamaoho, including the hapu of Te Akitai and Te Uri a Tapa, largely abandoned around 1863 during the Waikato War. The modern town has grown rapidly as a residential hub between Auckland and Hamilton, with Mark Ball Drive named after a former Franklin District mayor.
