Market Reserve Playground

Market Reserve Playground became Dunedin's first Balance Park in 2020, on the corner of Princes Street and Manor Place in central Dunedin, making it one of the most walkable playgrounds in the city. Swings, a spinning bucket, a jungle gym, see saws and climbing structures suit toddlers through primary age.

Equipment

The 2020 upgrade added rubber matting for impact absorption in place of bark, along with safety changes including swing bridges lowered close to the ground, adjusted structure heights and heightened guardrails.

Market Reserve was originally set aside as a market site in the city's earliest surveys, near Anzac Square and the Dunedin Railway Station precinct. Well maintained pathways suit strollers and mobility aids, with public restrooms a short walk away, picnic tables and benches on site, and on street parking nearby.
