Mere Road Reserve Playground

Mere Road Reserve Playground sits between Rokino Road and Mere Road in Taupō, built in 2024 on an artificial turf surface that stays soft and drains quickly. A tubular-slide multi-play structure with a climbing tower and spiral slide, a cantilever swing, and an infant swing suit younger children, while a half basketball court gives older kids and teenagers their own space to play.

The multi-play structure combines a tubular slide with a standard slide and a spiral slide reached from a climbing tower. Swings include a cantilever swing and an infant seat for toddlers. A half basketball court sits alongside the play equipment. Seating is provided nearby, and the reserve is a medium sized site.

Access and Inclusion

On street angle parking runs along Rokino Road. The infant swing and the slides suited to young children make this workable for toddlers tagging along with older siblings, while the half basketball court gives older children and teenagers an activity area separate from the play equipment.

Shade sails cover the swing bay and the basketball hoop, with partial cover for spectators seated nearby. Taupō District Council applies a smokefree policy across its green spaces, including this reserve.
