Pakihi Park Playground

Pakihi Park Playground is a compact neighbourhood playground in George West Square in Wigram, a Christchurch suburb built on the former RNZAF Wigram air base, with modern equipment best suited to toddlers through to early primary age. The standout piece is a tube slide that works for both small and bigger kids, keeping it usable across a reasonably wide age range.

Equipment

Alongside the tube slide there are swings with both adult and infant cradle seats, a spring style see-saw, and a small carousel, sitting on a woodchip surface. A climbing frame adds physical challenge for the older end of the toddler to primary range, and picnic tables are on site for lunch or an afternoon snack. A toy box holds outdoor play items, though several visitors note many of the toys in it are broken.

Parking is available on the surrounding residential streets. The flat, open layout makes this a stroller friendly visit, and the compact footprint makes it easy to keep an eye on young children, though there are no toilets on site, worth noting for longer trips with young ones.
