Why these ages?

Playground has tunnel, slides, spring rockers, mini tramps - fine for toddlers on its own. But the site's identity is the scooter road circuit, skate park and BMX terrain - constant wheeled traffic means parents can't fully switch off with a 2-year-old. The cycle skills track and beginner-to-intermediate bowl make this a genuine destination for 5-12s.

Knights Stream Park in Halswell packs three distinct destinations into one site: a medium sized neighbourhood playground, a purpose built cycle skills circuit, and a skate park next door, all serving a corner of southwest Christchurch that has grown fast since the subdivisions around Richmond Avenue and Halswell Junction Road went in.

Great spot for all skill level riders. Super chill path for beginners, and ramps and a bowl for more experienced riders. There was a very communal attitude at this park and everyone there when we visited was friendly and patient with kids gaining courage and practice on the features. Visited on Anzac Day, so probably busier than usual, but still plenty of room for everyone to have fun.

This park was amazing! It is inclusive of biking, scootering, or skate boarding there's a place for everyone. There is also a basketball area, and across the road, there is a playground, and of course there are seating areas around not to mention being next to a massive field. Great place to take the kids to kill time.
