Park Island Playground

Park Island Playground is a rugby themed play space in Napier's Poraiti area, set within the Park Island sports precinct with swings, climbing frames, a mini bike pump track, a tunnel slide, and a carousel.

Equipment

The rugby inspired equipment set works across age bands, from toddlers to children around age twelve. A tower with a tubular slide and a spider net round out the climbing options, and shade sails cover the play equipment and some seating.

Access and Inclusion

The playground sits beside Bluewater Stadium and the wider Park Island sports fields, giving families a place for younger children while older siblings watch or play a fixture nearby. Toilets, a drinking fountain, picnic tables and seating are all on site, with parking off Clyde Jeffery Drive.

Practical Info

Equipment and safety surfacing are inspected every three weeks by council contractors. Weekday afternoons are quieter and give younger children the pump track to themselves.
