Why these ages?

Reviewer explicitly says `river over the fence` - there is a fence between the play area and the Tutaekuri swimming hole, which is exactly the kind of buffer a parent of a 2-4yo wants. Modest but solid range for littlies (infant swing, junior play with slide + tunnel, seesaw) and the flying fox is the drawcard for older kids. Country setting, off-street parking, low traffic risk.

Awesome facilities for kids. Very good toilets. Go in the second gate with grass entrance if your freedom camping, Not the main gravel entrance. The council staff were their in the morning doing an amazing job keeping the place tidy and adding more playground.

Four Stars - only because of the Cockerals. This was our first attempt at freedom camping. It was a roaring success. The site was easy to find. It is just off the road in a beautiful rural fruit growing region. There is a nearby town - complete with a pub serving decent grub. There is a nearby swimming hole - that was very busy when we were there. And Napier us only 15 minutes away. Perfect. Plenty if space on the site and, even on a public holiday weekend, it was really quiet. There is s bbq, toilet block and rubbush/recycling bins. The play park is great. Our toddlers had a blast on the swings, flying fox, seesaw and rocktopus. Pretty new and in good working order. And then there are the chickens. At first they were a bit if fun. The kids chased them around and they added character to the place. But then it was 4am and the chickens decided to get their own back. Tge cockerals competed to see which one could cause the lost ruckus and keep is the most awake. But we did stay two nights... so I suppose it must be ok.

We went to celebrate birthday in the park and wanted to do the barbecue but barbecue was really dirty, people are not cleaning it properly after using it. We did the barbecue at home.

It's so sad to see the damage to this gorgeous park after Cyclone Gabrielle in February 2023.

Great place for the freedom campers or for the big family picnic. Lots of room for everyone to have fun, great playground for the kids and large area of grass for the game of cricket or volleyball or many other games. All complimented by a nice toilet block and at least 1 gas BBQ.

We decided to take our kuia for a drive and get some really needed fresh air. Beautiful place, beautiful play area for the kids and lovely clean toilets. I would highly recommend this place if you are wanting a free child friendly place to take the kids out for the day. Lovely play area for the kids, swings, flying fox etc. There was also a bbq area there as well, and a river over the fence. We'll differently be going back during the long summer days.
