Russell Park

Russell Park in Waipukurau is a big, colourful destination playground with a flying fox, a rotonet and high-back accessible swings, backed up by scooter and bike tracks and a popular skate park next door. In summer the splash pad turns the park into a genuine water-play stop, right alongside a heated indoor pool complex.

Equipment

A flying fox, a multi-play structure with a slide and a rotonet headline the equipment, with high-back swings, including an accessible high-back swing, and an infant swing for younger children. A half basketball court and the splash pad round things out. Surfacing is bark.

Access and Inclusion

The accessible high-back swing gives children with additional needs a proper spot on the equipment, and accessible toilets are on site.

Practical Info

Toilets, a drinking fountain, a barbecue, picnic tables, seating and a paddling pool are all here, with off-street parking and shade sails over the picnic table and splash pad seating, though not over the play equipment itself. The park sits on the edge of the Tukituki River Trails and next to the indoor pool complex, which charges entry. It opened within the last five years.
