Stanmore Bay Park

Whangaparāoa's biggest beachfront park pairs sports fields with a family water playground, sitting opposite the Stanmore Bay Pool and Leisure Centre where a beach themed splash pad has drawn crowds every summer since it opened in December 2017.

Equipment

Three separate play areas are spread across the park: two on the northern end by the beach and football fields, and one to the south near the petanque terrain and beach volleyball court. Equipment includes a multi play structure with an overhead ladder, balance beams, a basket swing, a climbing frame, a hamster wheel and bowl rockers, set over a bark surface. The adjacent splash pad adds fountains, mist sprayers and elevated water features built for children of all ages and abilities.

Access and Inclusion

The splash pad was purpose designed to give children across a range of abilities a safe way to play in water, with little to no standing water underfoot. Junior focused play equipment, including the basket swing and hamster wheel, sits alongside the taller climbing frame so families with a wide age range can split up and regroup nearby.

Stanmore Bay Park is on Brightside Road, Whangaparāoa, with on street parking, picnic tables and seating on site. The park sits beside the beach with a boat ramp nearby, and pairs well with a swim at the leisure centre pools or a game on the football fields and beach volleyball court. The reserve operates a smokefree policy.
