Why these ages?

Description explicitly splits toddler and junior zones with shade sails over parts of the junior zone; infant swings, rocker, junior multi-play and sandpit anchor the little-kids area for genuine let-them-loose play. Flying fox, supernova, climbing net, embankment slide and half-court keep older kids and tweens engaged. 2017 NZ Recreation Association Outstanding Park Award. One reviewer flags 'spread out' making multi-kid supervision harder.

Access notes

Sealed paths and car parks make the wider reserve accessible for prams and wheelchairs, but the play area itself is described as sand surfaced, and a review confirms parts of the ground are covered in bark. That loose surface remains a barrier once inside the play zones.

A lovely park with great facilities. It has public toilets, car parking, benches to sit and eat, and a nice playground for children. There’s also a football field right beside it. A pleasant place for walking and relaxing.

Name of the park came from its association with the Olympic Games & its sporting facilities, having produced several Olympic athletes since the late 1930s...

Nice grounds, nice play areas, just a little too spread out for my liking, making it difficult to safely keep track of yr children if u have more than one child there & they want to play at different areas. The other area that could be improved are the public toilets. Unfortunately there are only 2 & quite often 1 of them is "out of order".

A nice and big playground with plenty of equipments for the children to play around. The ground are either covered with lush grass or barks so it's safe for the children. The equipments will encourage your children to play and move physically. Also have plenty of seats and some area also have shades to block the sun and heat.

Lost my phone at the flying fox got halfway home before turning around and when I got back two young boys had found it and were trying to find me to return it. Props to their parents! Thanks to both those sweet boys! World is sadly lacking people like them

Like any park, it is what you make it . It has activities for young and older children. (Climbing and flying fox)and a large sand pit with more activities in it.
