Warren Park

Warren Park is a large flat recreation reserve in Queenstown, located alongside Gorge Road between the town centre and Arrowtown, bordered by Ben Lomond to the west and Queenstown Hill to the east. The park serves informal recreation, community events, and has been the subject of a QLDC long-term development plan.

Equipment

Warren Park contains a large and well-appointed playground with extensive equipment: a dinosaur slide, a climbing frame, a bowl rocker, a spinner, a climbing net, swings, a spring-loaded see-saw, a spring toy, a junior slide, infant swings, a hammock swing, and bars. The bark-chip surface covers the play zone. Toddler-friendly pieces include the bowl rocker, infant swing, spring-loaded see-saw, spring toy, and junior slide.

Access and Inclusion

Off-street parking is available at Warren Park. The flat terrain of the reserve is pram and wheelchair-friendly for movement around the open grassy areas. A gazebo with a BBQ and picnic table provides a sheltered gathering space. Public toilets are on-site. QLDC operates a smokefree policy across all district playgrounds.

History and Cultural

Warren Park has been used as informal recreation land and temporary event space for many years. QLDC consulted the community on a development plan to enhance biodiversity, showcase Horne Creek, and improve facilities. The creek has a natural and cultural connection between Matakauri Wetlands and Queenstown Bay. The surrounding land sits within the rohe of Ngai Tahu.

Off-street parking available on-site. Public toilets, BBQ facilities, picnic tables, and seating are available. The site is adjacent to a lake, with Horne Creek running through or near the reserve.
