Amberley Playground

Amberley Playground sits within the Amberley Domain, the main recreation reserve for the Hurunui District's largest town, on the edge of State Highway 1 about fifty kilometres north of Christchurch. The domain is a broad, well-used open space that brings together a wide range of sports and leisure facilities in one spot, making it one of the more complete recreation hubs for a town of its size. The layout of the reserve and its proximity to the town centre means toilets and other amenities are accessible nearby. Picnic tables are dotted across the domain, and the combination of shade trees and open lawn gives it a comfortable feel in both the heat of summer and the milder shoulder seasons.

For families passing through on SH1 between Christchurch and Kaikoura or the wider Hurunui, the Amberley Domain is one of the most functional roadside stops on the route.
