Caernarvon Park

Caernarvon Park is a small, older neighbourhood reserve in Dinsdale, Hamilton, with a simple playground perched at the top of a steep bank above the park's main flat area. The play equipment is minimal, making this a quick stop for families passing through rather than a destination visit.

The play set is two pieces: swings and a see-saw on a grass surface. No toddler-specific equipment such as infant swings or basket swings is listed. The play area has no shade at midday. A pathway from Dunvegan Place descends the western side of the park to Caernarvon Street, providing a pedestrian shortcut through the reserve. A full-sized sports field and picnic tables occupy the flat area at the southern end.

History and Cultural

The park's name follows a theme of British castle names running through the Dinsdale street network. Caernarvon Castle in north Wales was built by Edward I after the conquest of Wales between 1282 and 1283, and the street and park carry that reference. The playground itself predates 2010, making it one of the older sites in the Dinsdale suburb.
