Champion Reserve Playground

Champion Reserve Playground is a small, straightforward play space in Edgeware, one of Christchurch's denser inner suburbs where the nearest open ground genuinely matters to local families. Best for ages 1 to 8, it isn't a destination playground: it's reliable and close, and it delivers on both counts.

Equipment

The play area centres on a multi play structure with a slide and swings that include an infant seat for the youngest visitors. Bark chip covers the play zone, about 213 m² in total, with open grass extending around the equipment for running between turns.

Access and Inclusion

The reserve is unfenced from the surrounding street, so supervision near the edges is worthwhile for families with confident walkers. The site is flat and an easy walk from the surrounding streets.

Practical Info

On street parking is available on Champion Street and the surrounding side streets, with seating provided within the reserve. There are no dedicated toilets or barbecue facilities on site. The reserve sits about two kilometres north east of central Christchurch, with the Otakaro Avon River Corridor within cycling distance for a longer outing.
