Children's Playground

The Children's Playground on Goodwin Avenue is the play hub of Oneroa, Waiheke Island's largest village, a 35 minute ferry from downtown Auckland and a different pace entirely once you're off the boat. The entrance is step free, on street parking is available on Goodwin Avenue, and the Waiheke bus No. 1 route connects Matiatia ferry terminal to Oneroa village a short walk from the park.

History and Cultural

Waiheke is Te Motu Arai Roa in Maori, meaning the island of the long sheltering, and has been settled for at least 700 years. Oneroa sits on the island's western tip, looking back across the Waitemata Harbour to the Auckland skyline, and the village keeps a genuinely local character built around artists, winemakers, and long term island families.

A dairy for ice cream and snacks is a short walk away, along with a regular wood fired pizza truck, and Little Oneroa Beach, one of Waiheke's more sheltered white sand bays, is close by with its own free gas barbecues.
