HistoryCornwall Park's land was gifted by prominent Hastings landowner James Nelson Williams, who offered roughly 8.5 hectares (21 acres) of his Frimley Estate to the Hastings Borough Council around 1898 to 1900 for use as a public park, on the condition it was ploughed and set aside for tree planting he would supervise. The title was transferred and the reserve formally acquired in 1901.

HistoryThe bird aviary in Cornwall Park was built in 1935, originally a series of small wire cages housing over 200 different types of birds including kea. It has since evolved into one of the few remaining free-flying aviaries in a public park in New Zealand, today home to around 100 birds, mainly lorikeets, cockatiels and budgerigars, alongside red-eared slider turtles.

Beautiful large park with lots of mature trees to cool things down There is a great children's playground and public toilets. Perfect for a picnic or a quiet walk. Lots of space for a cricket game.

Great place to wind down enjoy the bird life, gardens and playground for kids, take your leftover peas, corn, lettuce, oats, seeds, and cooked or uncooked rice to feed the ducks on your walk through the park the kids will love it. I love coming here it's a beautiful stroll around place.

Awesome park in hastings. Amazing playground for young and older kids. Even a wet play area for those hot sunny days. Nice walkway and bird avary for the kids to look at and turtles as well. Large field for the whole family to have a run around on.

Epic place for children. Huge park. Water play park. Gorgeous gardens and little bridges with pagodas. Massive field. Benches and seats. Huge green house. Bird aviary and turtle enclosure. Such an incredible place. A great experience for adults and children, a must if visiting, and a dream if living locally.

This is a lovely well designed park with something for everyone, a small water park, trampolines built-in to the ground, a flying fox, rope climbing frame, swings and a Japanese garden that you can walk through as well as a lake with fountains and ducks, definitely a good place for families.
