The area at the highest high tide mark was recently covered in drift wood. Which resulted in a chain of huts built by clever young people. For those who prefer to dig holes and make castles and put up dykes against the income waves there was plenty of sand further down. This is a safe place to have some happy hours with the family.

The best place to start the walkway is parking up at Buller street park, play area for the children, bring bread feed the ducks, get coffee at the container Cafe, such an excellent place to spend some time with family and friends, the best!

Good for older kids from 3+. Not a lot to do for younger children.

Impossibly beautiful and timeless sense of wonder on this autumn day on the New Plymouth waterfront.
