Fernhill Reserve playground in Queenstown provides a small community play space with open grassy slopes overlooking the surrounding landscape, ideal for picnics. The current playground includes a flying fox as its primary piece of equipment, on a grass surface. The site spans approximately 2.1 acres and includes picnic areas and walking trails.

Access and Inclusion

Off-street parking is available at the reserve. The park is managed by the Queenstown Lakes District Council. A new playground is planned, with construction likely to commence in late 2026 following a QLDC-led community design process.

History and Cultural

Fernhill Reserve is located in the Fernhill suburb west of central Queenstown, a growing residential area with views across the Wakatipu Basin. The playground was established in 2014 and is due for renewal as part of the QLDC's ongoing commitment to community recreation infrastructure.
