Glen Place Playground sits on the corner of a wide grassy reserve in Mosgiel, Dunedin, right at the bend where the Glen Place cul-de-sac turns. It is a small neighbourhood playground: four pieces of equipment, a big lawn behind them, and by reviewers' accounts a quiet spot.
Equipment
Dunedin City Council's asset register lists a double wave slide, two single seesaws and a swing set with one adult seat and one toddler seat.1 Aerial imagery shows them laid out on a single L-shaped pad, with the blue slide at the lawn end, the two seesaws side by side in the middle and the swing frame nearest the road. There is no climbing frame, so it suits toddlers and early primary kids far better than older children.
Practical Info
The pad is open on every side, with no fence between the equipment and the grass and the cul-de-sac kerb only a few metres away, so keep a close eye on runners. Aerial imagery shows no shade sails or trees over the equipment and no toilet block in the reserve, so bring hats in summer. Parking is on the street in Glen Place. A gravel path heads north-west from the cul-de-sac along the edge of the reserve, and the lawn has plenty of room for a ball game.
Google reviewers are split: some describe a quiet, safe wee spot for kids, others find it underwhelming. For a bigger outing, Memorial Gardens Playground is about a kilometre east. It is Mosgiel's destination playground, which the council's playground guide lists with a wooden play fort and a large two-mast Spacenet climbing net.2 ANZAC Park Playground is a little further on.
