This is such a cool playground, mostly because of the big bird which has a staircase and slide and a cool thing where you can go outside of the metal birds head. The rest of the playground is nothing too special. I remember once digging some small holes in the ground with a stick as a kid and found a pretty big chunk of resin. I've been digging holes there ever since.

Harrier Point Park
1 Boundary Road, Hobsonville, Auckland 0616
Why these ages?
Signature 10-metre pied shag sculpture doubles as climbing tower and slide — impressive but tall and challenging, not toddler-oriented. Only a cantilever basket swing and flying fox for supporting play; no infant swing. Reached via stairs off Launch Road (not stroller-friendly) on the Hobsonville Point coastal walkway with reviewer noting 'water's edge'. Distance to the water is present but the harbour and the tall sculpture together mean toddler cognitive load is high. Squarely a big-kid destination.
Access notes
Description explicitly states the park is reached via stairs at the bottom of Launch Road, and surfacing is a mix of artificial and bark. Both are significant barriers for a wheelchair user trying to reach the play equipment.

Equipment
Harrier Point Park at Hobsonville Point centres on Te Kanohi o Te Manu, The Eye of the Bird, a 10 metre sculptural pied shag by artist Philipp Meier that doubles as a climbing structure, viewing tower and slide emerging from the tail. A cantilever basket swing and a separate flying fox round out the play equipment, with harbour views from the top of the sculpture.
