Why these ages?

Sports domain play with flying fox, tube slide, carousel and infant swing on Matta tiles, best for 3-11. Description explicitly says unfenced and opening onto the sports field, so a toddler wandering has open ground to disappear across. Nice oaks, toilets and picnic tables. Port Hills Road is a distance away and not arterial so road risk is manageable but no barrier.

Accessibility
Partial access
+ Poured rubber surface (firm for wheels)
Access notes

Description explicitly states the play area has a Matta interlocking tile surface across around 383 square metres, a firm surface comparable to poured rubber, but only on street parking is mentioned with no accessible bay noted.

The flying fox is the first thing children spot at Heathcote Domain, and it tends to set the tone for the whole visit. This four hectare sports park sits at the southern end of Heathcote Valley, pinched between Port Hills Road and Bridle Path Road, with the steep green ridge of the Port Hills rising directly behind it. Best for ages 3 to 11.

I visited the park in Heathcote and overall, it's a great place to spend time outdoors. The park offers a fun-filled experience with a flying fox, swings, and a slide, perfect for kids and those wanting to relive their youth. The availability of bathroom facilities is convenient, ensuring a comfortable visit. Despite that, the park's atmosphere is enjoyable, making it a delightful spot to have a good time with family and friends. With a little maintenance (and modernisation), it has the potential to become an even more fantastic place to cherish wonderful moments. I look forward to returning and experiencing further improvements!
