Island Bay Playground

Island Bay Playground on Adelaide Road, in Wellington's Newtown and Berhampore area, pairs a well equipped children's playground with an adjoining community built skatepark.

Equipment

The playground includes a basket swing, a gravel digger, a novelty tubular slide, an embankment slide, spring toys, swings with an infant seat, an inground carousel, a balance log, and a skatepark. The basket swing, infant swing, gravel digger and embankment slide are the toddler friendly picks, while the skatepark's wooden mini ramp, built by local skateboarders as a community project, gives older kids and teens their own space.

Surfaces are artificial and bark. Site amenities include public toilets, a drinking fountain, picnic tables, and seating, with on street parking nearby. Wellington City Council's smokefree policy applies.
