A blue rubber play pad sits in the middle of a grassy reserve between Kaimoana Street and Tutuwhatu Crescent, making this Weymouth playground an easy walk-to stop for families in this corner of Manurewa, South Auckland. Auckland Council lists it as a public-access playground looked after by the Manurewa Local Board.1
Equipment
This is a compact play space pitched at younger children. The centrepiece is a pale green play tower with an orange slide, standing on its own island of green rubber. A seesaw sits on a white circle at one end, another piece fills a second round pad at the other, and a few smaller items are dotted across the blue surface. One visitor summed it up as a small park ready for sliding and seesawing, which is about right: it suits toddlers and younger primary kids for a short play rather than a whole afternoon.
Practical Info
The whole play area is rubber surfaced, with a path looping around it and a bench on the edge. The rest of the reserve is open lawn with a handful of young trees that do not yet shade the equipment, so pack hats in summer. It is not fenced and streets run along two sides, although the pad sits back across the grass from the road. There is no toilet block, and the council has a rubbish bin on the Tutuwhatu Crescent side.2 Indented parking bays line the street on the southern edge. Reviews are warm, with one visitor praising the clean surroundings, though another said the grass could be mown more often.
For a change of scene, Taiaapure Street Reserve is about 230 metres away and Leaver Park is under 300 metres away.
