Why these ages?

Purpose-built inclusive playground with wheelchair-accessible carousel, adaptive swings, poured rubber, infant swing bays, spring toys and log scramble for the youngest. Multi-level fort with tall slides, BMX pump track, splash pad and sculpted hill make it a genuine destination for older kids and tweens. Reviewer notes 'hard to keep track of kids with the hillside' - lots of sightline breaks. Ocean/Ngamotu Beach adjacent via coastal walkway.

Accessibility
Partial access
+ Wheel-on roundabout / carousel+ Supportive swing seat (high-back, basket or nest)+ Ramped play platform+ Poured rubber surface (firm for wheels)+ Accessible toilet on site- Bark or wood-chip surface (wheels sink)
Access notes

Description explicitly names a wheelchair accessible carousel, adaptive swings that are transfer in seats rather than a swing the chair rolls onto, ramped access to the bigger structures, poured rubber surfacing through key zones, and a Changing Places facility with a hoist. However the Stage One fort is reached across artificial turf and bark, a barrier for wheels.

Equipment

Destination Kawaroa is the largest playground in New Plymouth, a multi zone build strung along the Coastal Walkway with a fort, a pump track, a splash pad and a sculpted hill for climbing and rolling. It suits a wide span, from toddlers in the infant swing bays to teenagers on the tall slides and BMX track, and reads as a genuine half day destination rather than a quick neighbourhood stop.

They spent a lot of money building it, but it is wonderful. Flying fox, outdoor gym equipment, ninja warrior course, bike course, and a 2 massive child playgrounds complete with splash pad for summer. all right at the seaside.

It's a pretty cool park, right on the boardwalk. But it is hard to keep track of the kids with the hillside and all the playground obstacles. Have to be vigilant. And the slides are not as scary as they look.

Bring some water and dishing washing liquid. Can do mean boosts off the slides straight into the ocean. Might get a sore back from the rocks so do at your own risk.
