Lakeside Playground is a nice little playground in an absolutely beautiful location beside Lake Tekapo. The biggest attraction here is really the setting. You have Lake Tekapo just a short distance away, with lovely views across the water towards the surrounding hills and mountains. For parents, it is a very pleasant place to spend some time while the children play. The playground itself is relatively simple and not particularly large, so I would not come here expecting a huge playground with endless equipment. There are better and more extensive playground options around Lake Tekapo if the playground itself is your main destination. However, as a place for children to stop, stretch their legs and burn off some energy while exploring this side of the lake, it works very well. The area also feels quieter than the main tourist centre of Lake Tekapo, which we appreciated. You can enjoy the open space, fresh air and lake scenery without being surrounded by the larger crowds around some of Tekapo's better-known attractions. It is particularly convenient if you are staying around Lakes Edge Holiday Park or elsewhere along Lakeside Drive, as you can easily walk over rather than having to drive into the centre of town. The playground has also been upgraded relatively recently, which is good to see. Overall, I would give it four stars. It is not the biggest or most exciting playground in Lake Tekapo, but the peaceful lakeside setting, mountain views and convenient location make it a very pleasant stop for families. Worth visiting if you are already in this part of Lake Tekapo, especially on a nice day.

Lakeside Playground is a small council playground on the Lake Tekapo waterfront, and its draw is the view: turquoise water and the high country ranges straight across from the swings. It sits on Lakeside Drive beside Lakes Edge Holiday Park, handy for a play after a dip in the lake.
