Why these ages?

Description explicitly warns 'unfenced, so families with toddlers should keep half an eye on the wider parkland'. Push-along train, spring rockers, sandpit and liberty swing give toddlers a real zone, but a 30m flying fox and separate older-kid equipment plus adjacent Manukau Road (busy arterial) keep it away from run-them-loose. One review flags injury on metal bridge pole.

Accessibility
Partial access
+ Wheelchair swing (roll-on, Liberty Swing style)- Bark or wood-chip surface (wheels sink)
Access notes

A liberty swing gives wheelchair users the same swinging experience as their friends, corroborated by a review naming a swing for kids in wheelchairs, but the description states the surface underfoot is bark, a hard blocker for reaching the rest of the equipment.

One Tree Hill Domain Playground sits inside Cornwall Park in Epsom, Auckland, at the base of Maungakiekie, and it is one of the biggest family playgrounds in the city for primary school aged children and toddlers alike. A 30 metre flying fox is the standout for older kids, while a push along train on its own loop track and a sand pit keep younger visitors busy.

  • CultureMaungakiekie / One Tree Hill is the most extensively developed Maori pa site in Tamaki Makarau / Auckland and one of the largest pre-iron-age fortifications in the world. The terraces were constructed by Ngati Awa chief Titahi in the 17th century, known as Nga Whakairo a Titahi (the carvings of Titahi). Maungakiekie means "the hill of the kiekie vine." Under the 2014 Treaty of Waitangi settlement, ownership of the maunga was vested to the Nga Mana Whenua o Tamaki Makaurau collective of 13 Auckland iwi, co-governed by the Tupuna Maunga Authority.

Great playground. A tad too many adults enjoying themselves and occupying the facilities while kids have to wait for them… otherwise a great and green place for the kids to enjoy.

Good playground, near main road but yet protected. Near other activities including stardome and one tree hill. Good parking space. This is a favorite place and can get very busy in weekends.
