Cornwall Park's playground sits inside a 270 hectare working farm and heritage estate near One Tree Hill, but the play area itself is a straightforward, well loved space suited to primary school aged children, with a skate bowl nearby for older siblings. It rewards a half day visit rather than a quick stop, since the surrounding farm, gardens and heritage sites give families plenty to do before or after play.

HistoryCornwall Park was gifted to the people of Auckland by Sir John Logan Campbell on 10 June 1901. Campbell presented the deeds to the Duke of Cornwall and York (later King George V), naming the park in his honour. The 270-hectare parkland surrounding Maungakiekie/One Tree Hill is managed by a private trust, not Auckland Council.

CultureMaungakiekie/One Tree Hill (Maungakiekie meaning "mountain of the kiekie") has been a central Maori pa since approximately 1350 CE, one of the largest in Tamaki Makaurau. Pre-European fortifications remain visible. The 1940 obelisk features a bronze Maori statue and Treaty of Waitangi plaques. Acacia Cottage (1841), the oldest surviving wooden cottage in Auckland, stands in the park. A new summit boardwalk track opened May 2026.

What a lovely visit to this magnificent park. It's clearly a favorite for walking dogs. We enjoyed walking in the park, lots of paths and a great walk up to the summit. Great for families, picnics, exercise or just relaxing. There's magnificent trees and lush greenery. Always a joy to visit here.

Absolute gem in Auckland. Beautiful open green spaces, peaceful walking tracks, and stunning views with One Tree Hill in the background. One of the most beautiful places in all of Auckland! The park is truly breathtaking. It has an incredible number of beautiful and enormous trees. There are also plenty of grassy areas where you can sit. Perfect for unwinding, relaxing, or taking a stroll. There's plenty of parking.

Cornwall Park is a beautiful park, lush green lawns, nicely curated and well maintained. Beautiful big old trees adding lots of character to the park vibe. Nice pathways through and around the park, good for walking, jogging or a leisurely stroll through the park. It is connected to One Tree Hill area at the back and it also has a very nice hike to the summit.

Cornwall Park • Cornwall Park is a large park (about 172 hectares / 425 acres) in Epsom, Auckland. • It’s open to the public and managed by the Cornwall Park Trust. • The park surrounds Maungakiekie / One Tree Hill, which has a volcanic cone and is historically and culturally significant. • It was gifted to New Zealand by Sir John Logan Campbell in 1901, with the vision that it be free and accessible for everyone. ⸻ Main Attractions & Things to See Here are some highlights you might enjoy: • One Tree Hill / Maungakiekie — climb up for views overlooking Auckland. The obelisk at the summit marks Sir John Logan Campbell’s burial site. • Working Farm — you’ll find sheep and cattle grazing. Adorable Auckland place for Anyone & Anytime. The lung of central Auckland. The intro of the park, tree tunnel can make everyone feel free in nature. What a handy! Cafe, Restaurant, and ice cream shop are all near by!

It is a big and beautiful place to walk, relax, and enjoy nature. There are lots of trees, open fields, and animals like sheep. You can walk up to One Tree Hill for a great view of Auckland. It’s a peaceful spot for a picnic or a nice day out.
