Papaioea Park Playground

Papaioea Park gives you a nice park with a difficult entrance. Bordering two main streets, Ruahine Street and Featherstone Street, you pretty much have to make a decision if parking on the wrong one, i. e. on Ruahine Street: Do you jump the wall or walk all around? Mind you, parking is not that abundant, so it probably is a frequent decision to make. The park is a vast expanse of open, flat, unforgiven space, that can be used as sportgrounds, with a little playground and gym on the side. You'll find toilets nearby, some rubbish bins, but little seating, and only a few trees on its borders for shade. A rather underdeveloped park at present.

Open 24 hours for players and exercise

This is a very big park. It has plenty of room to play all sorts of different sports and games. It has a playground and exercise machines in the corner. Lovely park for all ages. Perfect for families.

From a country town that doesn't think of adults exercising other than aerobics in public, I thought a quiet gym while watching your charges was fabulous

It's really only a sports ground. It's great to has public toilets, but it could be improved by more park benches around the outskirts of the playing fields and rubbish bins.

Playing cricket in a hay paddock is not a great example of ground management by our council. Too many times grounds are well under prepared for cricket. I know a late change of venue due to weather does not help in preparation of grounds, but the length of the grass today really detracted from the pleasure of the game.
