Memorial Park Playground

Memorial Park Playground in Terrace End is one of Palmerston North's largest play spaces, a very large category site built around climbing, swinging and spinning equipment for the full age range, with a splash pad and paddling pool as its seasonal centrepiece.

Equipment

Equipment includes embankment rails, a climbing net, high back swings, swings with an infant swing and a you and me swing, a basket swing, spring toys, an in-ground carousel, in-ground trampolines, balance balls, balance beams, an overhead ladder, poles, a junior multi-play structure, an embankment slide, and a novelty tubular slide.

Access and Inclusion

An accessible swing is provided among the swing sets, giving children with additional needs a way into the play equipment alongside everyone else.

Practical Info

Toilets, a barbecue, picnic tables, seating, a splash pad and a paddling pool are all on site. A large number of shade sails cover the play equipment, particularly in the junior area, with a further shade sail over some seating and established trees shading other parts of the park. Parking is on street, this playground was renewed within the past five years, and Palmerston North City Council's smokefree policy applies.
