My young kids enjoyed this small playground while passing through. There is no shade at all, which might be handy to know.

What's here
Rata Park playground is a compact, well-equipped play space on McEwan Street in Tokanui, a small rural community in the eastern Southland district. Tokanui sits on the Southern Scenic Route, roughly 55 kilometres east of Invercargill, and the playground has earned a clear reputation among passing families as a reliable stop for kids who have been in the car too long. Visitors with babies as young as ten months old have found it worthwhile, and the combination of through-traffic and local use means the park sees a healthy mix of visitors.
