Why these ages?

Infant swing bay and a multi-play with slide are the current interim equipment (a Playco renewal is due in 2025), and reviewers describe it as good for pre-schoolers and 'ok for under tens'. No fencing but on a quiet suburban street with tree cover and a dairy nearby. A teen abuse review is anecdotal. Small offering for older kids, very little for tweens.

Access notes

A review describes kids digging bark chips out of the surface in the middle of the playground, confirming loose bark surfacing under the equipment, a barrier for wheelchair users. No accessible parking, toilet or step free path is described anywhere in the source text, so there is no basis for an accessible verdict.

Silverstream Park's playground in southern Upper Hutt is a modest neighbourhood play space that Upper Hutt City Council selected for a full renewal in 2025, following Playco delivered upgrades at other reserves around the city. Until the new equipment lands, it offers swings with an infant seat and a multi play structure with a slide, suited to toddlers and younger primary aged children.

The park feels timeless, with sunlight filtering through the trees in dappled patterns, creating a play of light and shadow. Every detail seems to whisper calmness, making it an ideal retreat for those seeking solitude or simply a moment to connect with nature.

Good area for kids, Although two days in a row saw these kids 15-16 yr old abusing the playground and digging the bark chips and dirt out in middle of playground. I spoke to them saying I didn't think they should be doing that, and was told they would clear it up to when finished. Sorry, but shouldn't he doing in first place.

The toilet is disgusting for Silverstream, no toilet paper, gritty, door doesn't lock and the basin is joined with the toilet. Un hygienic and gross

It's ok for under tens. It's usually pretty clean and it's close enough to the shops if you need anything to eat. There's a table to sit at for the adults.

A small neighbourhood park with plenty of trees and a simple playground - swings, slide and other features suitable for pre-shoolers and primary aged. My pre-shoolers enjoys it as a change from other play areas

Silverstream Park is a pleasant local playground with facilities for children and enough space to play cricket and ball games. Kids can climb trees! Dairy and Supermarket across the road for post play refreshments.
