Equipment

A concrete whale surfaces from the bark at this timber playground, tucked behind the shops on Tākaka's Commercial Street in Golden Bay. The cafés and shops of the main street are steps away, which makes it the natural stop when one adult wants to browse and the kids need a run.1

Awesome, such a good playground! Takaka is lucky to have it, one of the best we have found in the South Island.

This playground looks great, and the kids loved it. There were slides, sand games, and a small trampoline.

Great playground. Close to bathrooms and the main drag in takaka. Would benefit from some more picnic tables.

This playground is fantastic! It offers a fantastic variety of play options, including a dedicated sand area, an exciting tunnel slide, and a unique concrete whale sculpture. The spinning swings are a definite hit with the kids. We especially appreciated the proximity to the skatepark, allowing for a seamless transition between playground fun and bike riding or skating. This is easily one of the best playgrounds we've visited.

Highly recommend visiting this playground while in the Takaka/Golden Bay area! Our 2 year old loved it and it was often shaded. Right in the center of downtown strip near all the restaurants and shops---visited almost every day of our 4 day stay!

Lovely park to take your food and eat and let the kids run off some steam. Clean and tidy 😊 …

Great place to take the kids and I really like the fact that everything is made from natural stained timber instead of plastic...
