Windsor Park is a young neighbourhood playground set among mature oak trees, in a newer housing development on Saint James Place, Rangiora, in North Canterbury. Those old oaks are the reason to pick it on a warm day: one reviewer says they shade the play area, which a brand new park usually has to wait years for.
Equipment
Reviewers describe a set of swings that includes a basket swing, plus a good spread of climbing frames. One parent found plenty to keep the kids occupied, and another said there was lots for little ones to explore, so it seems best suited to preschoolers and younger school-age kids. A large grass area beside the equipment gives room to run and kick a ball.
Practical Info
There are places to sit while the kids play. Visitors mention a toilet close by, though one early reviewer found it built but not yet open, so check it on arrival before relying on it. Building work has been going on next to the park, and one family said their kids loved watching the diggers.
Oakwood Park is about 400 metres east and adds a fully fenced toddler area with a sandpit, slide and baby swings,1 which makes the two an easy pairing for families with a toddler and an older sibling.
