Wordsworth Street Playground

Wordsworth Street playground, at the end of Rolleston Reserve in the heart of Rolleston, is one of the town centre's biggest play spaces, with a flying fox, a rocktopus and a full skate park giving it something for toddlers through to teenagers.

Equipment

The flying fox is a particular local favourite, alongside a rocktopus, a climbing frame, an embankment slide, a tyre climber, a large steering wheel and a learn to cycle track. A half basketball court sits towards the adjoining skate park, which draws its own crowd of skaters and scooter riders. The surface is artificial turf, and infant swings, an embankment slide and a spring rocker cover the junior end of the playground.

Access and Inclusion

The learn to cycle track and junior play area suit toddlers and younger children, while the flying fox, climbing frame and skate park hold the interest of older kids and teens. The reserve is not fenced, so parents of toddlers should keep them close to the play area.

Practical Info

Public toilets and a drinking fountain are on site, along with picnic tables and seating. Parking is on street angle parking, with access off Rolleston Drive between the Rolleston Community Centre and the New World supermarket.
