HistoryWynyard Quarter Playspace was built in response to the 2010 Auckland Public Life Survey finding the city centre "almost devoid of children." Waterfront Auckland's brief called for an innovative, high-quality playspace, designed by Isthmus Group using salvaged materials including a former building's concrete foundation slab (now the basketball court base), repurposed concrete pontoons, wharf timbers and basalt sea wall chunks.

A perfect place for children to enjoy themselves and burn off their energy. It is suitable for infants, toddlers and older children and such fun. It is also close to a carpark, Silo Park and Wynyard Quarter. It was great to see restrooms/loo nearby as it is convenient for the family and less stressful when a child needs the loo.

By far the most useless park I have ever taken the kids too. There are two swings which are the highlight. I’d advise to change this to a more functional park for kids especially since there is nothing nearby.

We bought our son here to ride on a beam scooter. There's lots of space for this. We also saw lots of people out with children riding bikes, scooters and playing basketball. A nice place to play and relax on the outdoor seating.

took my babies here a few weeks ago. my goodness playground needs an upgrade! the metal/steel that they've used to created this playground heats up and can easily burn a child's hand/bottom if they sitting or playing on it. for a playground …

Enjoy going to this place. With the fish market and the tasty fish and chips, the restaurants on the wharf, the kids play area, the water fountain and basket ball court, the greens, the walk to the city, the boats, the lifting bridge, the recycled shipping containers, the city view, there’s something for everyone.

Good little park. Appears to be geared towards younger and older children leaving tweens little "bored". 4 gender neutral public restrooms stalls. Places to play basketball and ride scooter around playground.

I loved Auckland, and I especially loved walking along the water front from Queens Wharf through to St Marys Bay. The different bars and restaurants, the yacht basins were all good viewing. Our luck was in because the Volvo around world race teams were in. Around the Wynyard area there were some huge motor cruisers being cleaned and serviced for the season. The Cylo park was fun, though we did not see it when musical events were on. I loved that a bridge had been built so that you could get a high birds eye view of the cylos, and the play ground the other side.

The place is nice with food stalls on the side, good for morning and afternoon walk or jog.
