Xena Park

Xena Park is a large open space playground on Lake Panorama Drive in Henderson, set within a reserve of walking paths, bridges, and wetland scenery on Auckland's western side.

Equipment

The playground features a climbing tower with slides, a see saw, swings, a small spring rider, and further climbing equipment, enclosed by a looping footpath that keeps it visible from the surrounding grass. A balance beam, a slide and pole, a rotonet, a rocktopus, and a spring loaded see saw are also on site, on an artificial surface with no shade over the equipment or seating.

Access and Inclusion

The park links south to the adjoining Paremuka Wetland and, across Lake Panorama Drive to the north, to the water lilies and birdlife of Lake Panorama itself, reachable via a 900 metre loop path. Access points run off Lake Panorama Drive, Bibury Avenue, Rissington Avenue, and Rosa Place. Dogs must stay on leash near the playground and are not permitted on it, though they may run off leash elsewhere in the park. The steep gravel path in from Lake Panorama Drive through the wetland may not suit prams or visitors with access needs, though the lakeside tracks around Panorama Lake itself are flat and pram friendly.

Practical Info

There are no public toilets on site, with the nearest facilities elsewhere in Henderson. On street parking is available, and the wider reserve offers seating, picnic tables, a jetty, and boardwalk sections for a longer visit combined with the lake.
