Why these ages?

Community-rebuilt (2021) large playground centred on 2 flying foxes, sports fields, courts and toilets. The only fenced area is the separate dog park, not the play space. No infant swing or toddler zone highlighted; the standout equipment (flying fox, climbing) suits confident primary-aged and tween kids best.

Equipment

Ascot Park's playground is built around a flying fox that has been a neighbourhood favourite for years, with a broader children's play space alongside it. The equipment stayed open through a 2021 renewal of the wider play area, and today it sits inside a 13 hectare reserve in Porirua's Aotea and Ascot Park area, threading through regenerating kanuka forest alongside sports fields and a fenced dog park.

Great place to take your dog for an off leash run in the doggy area. My dogs love running through the flax and the trees

Out pups absolutely love the dog park located here and all the people bringing their dogs are great owners watching and helping to keep all our dogs safe

Great park, ample parking - nice area for the little ones. Came here for sons training, pays to wear a few layers though (dont let the sun fool you)

There is ample space for a walk around the field or walk to nearby places within Ascot Park. Bring your dogs to exercise in the Dog Park or enjoy the Saturday morning games that take place in the field or courts (turf). The caretaker does a great job, looking after the grounds. It's a community gift to enjoy, from the Porirua City Council

Took the kids here for a little playtime..Plenty to keep them busy and for the bigger kids there's the astro-turf surface of Bernie Woods Park with posts for rugby and football. Toilets and changing rooms are close by. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

Great place for the community, lovely park for the kids entertained, dog park to keep those dogs moving, and generous sports fields to do your sports training on and/or do some occasional lap exercises, with a accommodating artificial turf near by for those days when the grass is too wet, slippery and muddy.
