But beach is right there ('kids can spill out from playground onto rocks') and playground sits at Shelly Beach Parade beside the carpark entrance. Water + carpark risks with no fence require constant supervision.
A 2022 upgrade added a wheelchair accessible carousel and a wet pour rubber surface around key play elements, corroborated by a review that calls the site wheelchair accessible with a rotating platform. Much of the wider site is still finished in bark, and only on street parking is available.
Cockle Bay Playground pairs a three bay swing set, including a face to face adult and baby swing, with a natural play area of tree stumps, stepping logs, balance beams and timber stilts, all a short stroll back from the sand at Shelly Beach Parade.
