Is well used 😀 is an amazing resource for the local children who it was designed for. High enclosed slides & climbing features, sand play, water play, bbq facilities, water fountain and toilets give it a colourful beach vibe. Bits of graffiti, not alot. Kids chilling in groups but not bothering anyone while we were there. Awesome parking and tidy of rubbish.
Dominion Park Playground
Dominion Road, Nawton, Hamilton 3200
Why these ages?
Dedicated junior area with infant swing, spring toy, sand/water play, and junior slide gives 2-4yos their own scaled zone. Main area has climbing towers and high tube slides for older kids but toddlers can be safely contained in junior zone. Artificial safety surface, shade sails, fenced from carpark (drain barrier per review), disability-friendly. Water play is shallow splash, not drowning risk. Some reports of vandalism/broken equipment but core toddler zone unaffected.
Access notes
Description states the play equipment and public toilets are both disability friendly, and the play surface is artificial rather than bark or sand, though no specific inclusive piece like a transfer station or wheelchair swing is named.
What's here
Dominion Park Destination Playground, known as Te Oko o Kirikiriroa, is an ecological themed play space built for a wide age range, from toddlers in its own junior area through to older kids on the climbing towers and slides.
