Dustin Park

Dustin Park sits right on the foreshore of Lake Dunstan, at the heart of Pisa Moorings, one of Central Otago's most distinctive lakeside communities. The park is a short walk from most homes in the settlement, and on a calm afternoon with the Pisa Range reflected in the water and the Dunstan Mountains visible to the north, it is easy to see why families return here again and again.

Public toilets were installed at the park in 2013, a welcome addition for families spending longer stretches by the water. The park connects to the walking track that runs along the Lake Dunstan foreshore, which forms part of the broader Lake Dunstan Trail network popular with cyclists and walkers visiting the region. That trail has made Pisa Moorings more accessible to day visitors from Cromwell and further afield, and Dustin Park functions as both a local neighbourhood reserve and a convenient rest stop for those passing through.

The playground is unfenced, which is typical for a park of this type set within a quiet residential settlement. The foreshore location means parents of very young children should keep proximity to the lake edge in mind. Shade at the park comes from the open sky rather than tree canopy, so sun protection is sensible on summer visits. The site is best suited to families comfortable with an open, lakeside environment.

For a small community that has grown largely on the strength of its lifestyle appeal, Dustin Park earns its place as the social hub of Pisa Moorings. Residents describe it as being within easy walking distance from nearly every home, and on weekends during the summer season the combination of playground, lawn, lake access, and walking trail makes it a natural gathering point for locals and visiting families alike.
