Pioneer Park Playground

Pioneer Park Playground in Alexandra splits its equipment into two fenced areas, one for younger children and one for older kids, with swings, slides, a climbing net and rocking horses across both. It has stood in the park for over a decade and sits right next to the Central Stories Museum and a picture theatre, so it's an easy add-on to a town-centre stop.

Equipment

The younger children's zone has an infant swing and a slide suited to young kids with assistance. The older kids' area brings a climbing net and rocking horses alongside standard swings and a multi-play slide structure. Play surfaces are artificial, and while there's no shade directly over the equipment, a large established tree gives excellent shade for seating nearby.

Public toilets, seating and off-street parking are on site, tennis courts sit within the same park, and Central Otago District Council operates a smokefree policy across the reserve.
