Hannahs Bay Organic Community Garden

Hannahs Bay Reserve on Lake Rotorua's eastern shore has a junior-friendly playground with slides, swings including an infant swing, a multi-play structure with a slide, ball catchers, and its own junior multi-play structure, set within a lakeside reserve next to the beach.

Access and Inclusion

Off-street parking is available on site. A wheelchair-accessible boardwalk crosses the Otauira wetland within the reserve, letting visitors take in the habitat without disturbing it. Public toilets, a drinking fountain, a barbecue, picnic tables, and seating are provided, though there is no shade over the play equipment or seating beyond a gazebo at the barbecue area. Rotorua Lakes Council's smokefree policy applies.

History and Cultural

The reserve is managed by Rotorua Lakes Council in partnership with local iwi, with the Tatau Pounamu Eastside Collective leading an ecological restoration project along the lake edge. The Otauira wetland within the reserve holds significant cultural value to local hapū as a taonga landscape.
