Pure sand play space with no climbing or swings - built specifically for toddlers to dig and play. Sits directly on the Hatea River bank in the Town Basin with tidal water and boats; no described barrier, so a wandering 2-4yo could reach the water. Nothing for older kids beyond the sandpit.

    Such open spaces with grasslands, sculptures, easy walking and running path great for all abilities and easy excercise and a cafe or two in the mix, park ru n held near here on saturdays

    We love this park. At low tide, you can watch sea birds digging in the sand of the river banks. We have seen Spoonbills. Oyster Catchers, Sea Gulls, Kingfishers, Herons, and more!

    This is so lovely just if you feel you would like to for a walk. You can choose if you want to do the whole Hatea loop. Feel very relaxed afterwards. Sonja

    Great place to wander around. Changing views with boats coming in and out. Some neat sculptures. Story boards explaining early Whangarei. The Hundertwasser building and kids playgrounds. Part of the Town Basin Loop walk which is nice to wander around

    This is definitely a go ahead area with lots of public foot traffic Great place to cycle walk run or take the dogs for their walk Love it here

    Very nice walk along the river side. Eels, fish and birds for the kids to look at as well as all the big sculptures to climb on.

    Great park on the border of the Hatea Loop. The Gypsey Fair had been there on the weekend.

    This is a nice walking Park. There are a few water stations along the pathway which runs parallel to the inlet.
